The Pretty Flower, Rose

Once upon a time there was a pretty red rose that stood tall in the garden for everyone to see.

“You’re so pretty and magnificent, Rose,” the passers-by would say, “But why do you cry?”

“Because my father doesn’t see me,’ she replied. “He doesn’t tell me how pretty I am.”

And so, as sad as she was, the pretty Rose grew taller,

Tall enough for the whole city to see

And everyday, the whole city stopped what they were doing and stared at the pretty, Rose

“You’re so pretty and magnificent, Rose” the whole city would say. “But why do you cry?”

“Because my father doesn’t see me,” she replied. “he doesn’t tell me how pretty i am.”

And so, as sad as she was, the pretty Rose grew taller,

Tall enough for the whole country to see

And everyday, all of Brazil stopped what they were doing and stared at the pretty,  Rose.

“You’re so pretty and magnificent, Rose,” the whole country saud. “But why do you cry?”

“Because my father doesn’t see me,” she replied. “He doesn’t tell me how pretty i am.”

And so, as sad as she was, the pretty Rose grew taller,

Tall enough for the whole world to see

Little though, did the pretty flower, Rose know that

way down below, with his hands broken and bleeding and digging into the dirt,

the gardener worked tirelessly, day and night, turning the soil, unpicking every weed

so that she could grow tall enough for the world to see how pretty she was.

*********** Rabhadh! Warning! Aviso ! **************

This story contains graphic and distressing violence. This was not meant to glorify barbarism or brutality in any way. This is merely what I saw in the world at the time in which I lived. This story is dedicated to all those who survived abuse and especially to all those ghosts that did not.

AmeriKa

 AmeriKa

a dystopian rock opera

Inspired by the genocide in Gaza, AmeriKa is a rock opera of gargantuan and unparalleled proportions. A gripping tale of gallantry and valour, of grit and glory, marred, as it were, by the very nature of man’s woeful and ignorant self-indulgence; by his treachery, his greed, and by his inherent cowardice

It is a tale unlike any other, one in which the line between story and song blurs, where narrative and progressive rock & metal meet and merge until one is indecipherable from the other. It is a tale of war, terror, and devastation - of heroes, villains, and victims - one in which even you, the listener, do not leave unscathed, for you play your part too.

AmeriKa is hope.

AmeriKa is violence.

AmeriKa is compassion.

AmeriKa is war.

AmeriKa is here and now.

Prepare yourself.

Nothing and no one will survive.

From the stark and anomic minds of Adam Keane (Sudafed, Sound Surgery, Hypercenter) and C. Sean McGee, comes a rock opera of pure dystopic hell; an adventure of bedlam and destruction where hope and despair intertwine.

A story of an empire's collapse told in three parts:

I: City of Shadows

II: City of Light

III: City of God
